Armenia ready to maintain and develop current level of cooperation with Nato – President Sargsyan

The Armenian-Nato Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) is being implemented, Armenia’s President Serzh Sargsyan stated on Thursday during his joint briefing with North Atlantic Treaty Organization (Nato) Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, News.am reports.

“The level of Armenia’s interaction with the Treaty allowed for Armenia to contribute to the international security system. At present, Armenia takes part in the Nato-led peace operations in Afghanistan and Kosovo. Armenia is ready and determined to maintain and develop the current level of cooperation,” the President noted.

In his words, the present-day security challenges demand a comprehensive and united approach.

“I am confident that relations with partner-countries have a substantial role in the Treaty’s success and in building a modern-day security system. The Partnership for Peace program has truly contributed to our country’s democratic development ever since 1994,” President Sargsyan noted, and added:

“But regrettably, we witnessed a blatant violation of the aforesaid principles along the lines of the Partnership for Peace program, and this, certainly must not cast a shadow upon our and Nato’s relations.”
