Russian president calls for problem of illegal immigration to be resolved

Russian president Dmitry Medvedev arrived today in Blagoveshchensk as part of his tour of the Far Eastern Federal District. During a meeting with the head of public administration of the Amur Oblast he demanded that the situation surrounding illegal immigration be resolved and that a simple code of rules for immigrants be created, reports RIA Novosti.

The head of the Federal Migration Agency, Constantine Romodanovsky, announced that Russia needs 5 million labor migrants, although 4 million work illegally. President Medvedev stressed that this number is far too large and that rules for migrants should be simple enough for them to follow.
