The president of South Ossetia, Eduard Kokoity, will not change the constitution and won’t run for the post of head of the Republic in the 2011 elections, reports IA “Res”. The acting president declared his decision in front of the VII Congress of the “Unity” Party in Tskhinvali.
Kokoity is not going to introduce any amendments to the constitution or try to persuade the parliament to do so, not only because it is “the fundamental law”, but it was also gained by “the blood of the Ossetian people”. “Our young state is modern and democratic, so we are not going to change the fundamental law for anyone’s benefit”.
