Iranian official meets new UN Peace Envoy

Iran's deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, met with the new UN Peace Envoy for Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, Fars reported.

Lakhdar Brahimi subsituted Kofi Annan in this post.

The recent developments in Syria, and prevention of sending weapons to armed groups in the country were discussed at the meeting.

Amir-Abdollahian underlined Iran's support for Syrian president Bashar Al-Assad's reform plan in the country.
