Libya has sent Syrian rebels 400 tons of surface-to-air missiles, grenade launchers, humanitarian aid and medicaments, a member of the Free Syrian Army Abu Muhammad said, Lenta.ru reports.
Captain Omar Musaeb from Benghazi will use his ship Intisaar at the Iskenderun Port to transport the cargo to fight President Bashar al-Assad. Musaeb said that the Muslim Brotherhood tried to obtain the cargo.
Over 80% of the shipment will be taken to Syria.
Over 5,000 surface-to-air missiles disappeared in Libya after the fall of Muammar Gaddafi. A ship with RPGs and other heavy weapons was stopped in Tripoli in late April 2012.
