Ashkhabad will host the CIS consumer goods fare on September 20 to promote trade and economic ties of CIS states, exchange experiences in industry and develop and implement innovative technologies.
Turkmenistan chairs the CIS in 2012 and has 31 activities scheduled for the year. Ashkhabad will host the Council of CIS Leaders in November, a forum of CIS art and science and international conferences on food security.
Ashkhabad joined the CIS as an associate member in 2005.
It has hosted a cinema festival, agricultural forum, a summit of CIS foreign ministers, the Interstate Council for Standardization, Metrology and Certification of the CIS, the council of border guards of the CIS, a summit of prime ministers and the CIS Economy Council.
