Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili will replace prison security with police officers, News Georgia reports.
The initiative was announced at a meeting with Prime Minister Vano Merabishvili and justice minister on September 19. Merabishvili will be supervising the penal system from now on.
The Ministry for Corrections and Legal Assistance used to control prison security.
