Georgia praises EU observers

Georgia praised the EU monitoring mission for conflict prevention, Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia Nikoloz Vashakidze said at a meeting of the mission’s chief Andrzej Tiskevich, Georgia Online reports.

The sides discussed the situation on the Abkhaz and South Ossetian border. Tiskevich presented a report on the situation, with account of the Russian military drills.

The mission’s mandate was extended by a year. International observers have been operating in Georgia since the cease-fire agreement of August 2008.
