The head of Chechnya has criticised the makers of the movie "The Innocence of
Muslims" that has provoked riots across the world, the press service
of the Chechen government said.
He stressed that politicians do not always understand how fragile
peace is and how dangerous it is to provoke mass protest demonstrations on
religious grounds.
"Millions of people went to the streets in the world's biggest cities.
They are upset by an American movie that was insulting to
muslims. Europeans went even further and published some caricatures.
They got what could have been expected," he said.
"We do not support violence in any way. We condemn violence in any
form. But we also condemn those who made the movie, those who financed it
and those who allowed it, hiding behind freedom of speech. Freedom of speech should not threaten the peace, stability and health of people," Kadyrov said.
