Iran bans Google

Iran has temporarily banned Google and its Gmail service, as stated by Abdul Samad Khoramabadi, Secretary of the Committee for Internet Crime Control, Trend reports.

The official stated that Google services were banned over the “Innocence of Muslims” film.

Iran has one of the world’s most strict Internet filters. The filter is usually evaded using VPN. Iranian officials have long been discussing the formation of an Iranian network, isolated from global Internet.
