Georgian former President Eduard Shevardnadze urged the international society on Monday to help the country hold fair elections of the 150-seat parliament on October 1, Vzglyad reports.
He believes that the authorities are trying to use the scandal over prison tortures for their own benefit and ruin the elections. The ex-president expressed support of protesters in Tbilisi and other cities and believes that ministerial resignations are not enough. He wants a trial at the International Court of Justice.
