United Russia has approved Alexey Mitrofanov as the chairman of the parliamentary committee for mass media, Interfax reports.
Mitrofanov is expected to present his plans for the committee personally. The MP’s office said on Monday that he will not attend the presidium.
Mitrofanov accepted the proposal to supervise the committee last week.
He is a member of A Fair Russia, but he was banned from the party in May 2012 for approving Dmitry Medvedev as Prime Minister despite the party’s vote against it. He has not lost the mandate of the party yet.
