Alexey Pashintsev, calling himself Abdul Malik, has been identified as the murderer of Dagestani Sheikh Sayid Afandi on August 28, Izvestia reports.
Pashintsev was controlling Aminat Saprykina, the suicide bomber who killed the sheikh.
Pashintsev was born in the Belgorod Region. He was a student and was dismissed from a university for poor studies in 2010. He joined radical Wahhabis then. The young man was planning to study in Egypt, but went to Dagestan instead, trained at a militant camp and became the leader of the Buynaksk terrorists.
He has already made a video message about the terrorist attack. The police believe that the sheikh was murdered for opposing radical Islamists.
