The Federation Council of Russia passed the bill on single day of vote set for the second Sunday of September, RIA Novosti reports.
Elections will be held in October 2012. The next elections will be held in September.
Consideration of the bill was postponed in July. Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko clarified that MPs had not received opinions about the bill from all regions.
