Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan has criticized the Healthcare Ministry at a meeting on state healthcare surveillance and pharmacology, News Armenia reports.
The president said that it was the only area causing disappointments for a third of the population, despite high-skilled doctors and modernization.
He ordered executives to prepare and present a radical program based on proposals made in 6-8 months.
Ovanes Ovsepyan, head of the presidential surveillance service, reported about investigation made on September 19-26 about state medical purchases. Healthcare Minister Derenik Dumanyan set primary goals of healthcare and proposals for their solution.
The meeting was attended by Armen Gevorkyan, Vice Premier and Minister for Territorial Administration, Vigen Sargsyan, head of the office of the Presidential Administration, Agvan Ovsepyan, Prosecutor General, Ara Babloyan, head of the commission for healthcare, maternity and childhood of the National Assembly, Gorik Akopyan, Director of the National Security Service, Tigran Davtyan, Minister for Economy, Vache Gabriyelyan, Minister of Finances, Gagik Khachaturyan, head of the committee for state expenses, Ovanes Ovsepyan, head of the presidential surveillance service, Artak Shaboyan, head of the state commission for protection of economic competition, Akop Topchyan, director of the Center for Expertise of Medicine and Medical Technologies, Samvel Zakaryan, headof the Union of Manufacturers and Importers of Medicaments.
