The federal government will spend an additional 20 billion roubles on the North Caucasus, RIA Novosti cites Russian prime minister Dmitry Medvedev as saying.
"I have recently signed a governmental decree, which orders the allocation of an additional 20 billion roubles to the North Caucasus in the framework of the South Russia Federal Programme," Medvedev said.
The Kremlin policy towards the republics of the North Caucasus is often criticized as ineffective and too costly by nationalist politicians.
