Ivanishvili starts governmental consultations

Leader of the Georgian Dream coalition Bidzina Ivanishvili has started consultations about the new chairman of parliament and members of government. He has given no names so far. President Mikheil Saakashvili may present his own version of the government, Trend reports.

Georgian Dream got 55% of votes after studies of 97.03% of protocols. Saakashvili got 40.27%. Votes of 3590 out of 3766 polling stations (including 64 special stations) have been counted. Ivanishvili’s coalition got 38 seats of parliament, Saakashvili got 35. Preliminary vote results of 73 single-mandate districts have been announced, RIA Novosti reports.

White House spokesman Jay Carney, EU Chief Diplomat Catherine Ashton and European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fule congratulated Ivanishvili on winning the elections.
