Baku hosts International Humanitarian Forum

 

Baku is hosting the International Humanitarian Forum attended by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev. The president said that efforts should be put in building a multicultural society. Ali Gasanov, head of the socio-political section of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, said that the meeting will be concluded with signing of the Baku Declaration.

Constantine Kosachev, head of Rossotrudnichestvo, said at a press conference on the 4th anniversary of the organization in Moscow, that the forum was positive and a useful initiative.

Yefim Pivovar, head of the Russian State University for the Humanities, says that the forum is a good example of Russian-Azerbaijani cultural dialogue.

Mikhail Gusman, Deputy Director General of ITAR-TASS, noted that the forum is becoming a more and more authoritative platform for humanitarian cooperation.

Ariel Coen, an expert for Russia, Eurasia and energy policy of the Heritage Foundation, said that the forum had an excellent atmosphere in October 2011. It was initiated by Azerbaijani and Russian Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Vladimir Putin.

This year’s forum will have about 600 officials from about 100 states, including 10 winners of the Nobel Prize and over 15 ex-presidents, former prime ministers, ministers.
