Ivanishvili confirms his intention to retire from politics in 2 years

The leader of the opposition bloc "Georgian Dream," billionaire Bidzina
Ivanishvili, has confirmed in an exclusive interview with Forbes magazine that he
will remain in politics for a maximum of two years.


Ivanishvili said that as a politician he intends to reform the
Constitution, change laws determining the current strategy of Georgia,
ensure the freedom of courts and media and free the police, prosecutors and
other agencies from the influence of politics, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the preliminary results of the parliamentary elections in Georgia
held on Monday, the opposition party of Ivanishvili, "Georgian Dream" has
gained 55% of the votes. The ruling "United National Movement" party
received slightly over 40%.

The current head of the state, Mikheil Saakashvili, has already recognized
the defeat of the UNM and announced the transition of his party to
opposition.

The Georgian parliament is elected for four years.
