The Special Envoy of the UN and the Arab League on Syria, Lakhdar Brahimi, is in contact with the Turkish and Syrian authorities, trying to reduce tensions over the incident at the border between the two countries, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in a statement released on Thursday, RIA Novosti reports.
The UN Secretary-General yesterday called on Turkey and Syria to exercise "maximum restraint" and renounce the use of force, as well as to make efforts to achieve a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
