UNSC blames Syria for attack on Akchakal

The UN Security Council calls Syria responsible for the attack on Turkey’s Akchakal and urged Damascus to respect sovereignty of neighbor states, RIA Novosti reports

The attack artillery attack was made on Wednesday. Turkey opened counter-fire on Wednesday and early Thursday.

Syrian representative to the UN Bashar Jafari said that the government will study the incident.

The Syrian government requested the UNSC to react to terrorist attacks in Aleppo where about 30 people were killed by suicide bombers. Al Qaeda took responsibility for the act.

Russian representative to the UN Vitaly Churkin said that he had presented a project declaration for today’s talks.

The conflict in Syria has been ongoing since March 2011. Opposition says 30,000 people were killed in the conflict. Syria blames Turkey and a set of other states for supplying opposition with weapons.
