Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov, special presidential representative to the Middle East, said at the Rhodes Forum today that Moscow was expecting a visit of Syrian opposition, ITAR-TASS reports.
Damascus, Paris, Istanbul and other cities initiate regular contacts of embassies and consulates with Syrian opposition, Bogdanov reminds. The deputy minister wants the world society to form a common position stated in the Geneva Communiqué.
Russia wants to pass a new UN resolution on Syria based on the Geneva Communiqué. Russia proposed a declaration stating the day and time for cease-fire and have additional talks with Syrian sides.
The resolution on Syria may resemble resolution 1515 passed during the Palestinian-Syrian road map plan, Bogdanov says.
