Iran's Central Bank freezes Iran Shipping's $50 million because of currency rates

The Iranian Central Bank has freezed around $50 million of the Iran Shipping company's assets, the company's managing director Mohammad Hossein Dajmar said, Trend cites ISNA as saying.

Dajmar noted that the reason the CBI blocked the company's assets is the unstable currency rate.

"The CBI announced that it would give the company's money out in rials (1220 rials per dollar), not in USD. The company has declined to accept the offer," Dajmar said.

He added that company's revenues came from various goods and passenger transportations, and the issue with the frozen account is creating a lot of problems for Iran Shipping.
