The head of "Memorial" is charged with libel

The investigative authorities have charged the head of the Council of the Human Rights Center "Memorial" with libel against the President of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, RIA Novosty reports.

A legal action has begun after Oleg Orlov, the head of "Memorial", publicly claimed Kadyrov's personal or indirect participation in Natalya Estemirova's assassination. Natalya Estemirova was a human rights activist and a member of "Memorial", who was kidnapped on July 15th and then found dead.

Oleg Orlov denies he is guilty of libel.
