Georgian Dream names candidates for parliament posts

 

Georgian Dream has proposed Chairman of the Republican Party to become the Speaker of Parliament, Manana Kobakhidze to become the Vice Speaker, News Georgia reports.

Bidzina Ivanishvili, leader of the Georgian Dream, presented Zviad Dzidziguri (leader of the Conservative Party), Zurab Tkemaladze (a leader of Industry Will Save Georgia) and Zurab Abashidze (Our Georgia – Free Democrats) as Vice Speakers.

Vakhtang Khmaladze will head the legal committee, Irakly Sesiashvili the defense and security committee, former Foreign Minister Tedo Japaridze the committee for foreign affairs, diplomat Victor Dolidze the committee for European affairs and integration, lawyer Eka Beselia the committee for human rights and civil integration, Dmitry Khundadze the committee for healthcare and social affairs, athlete Leri Khabelov the committee for sports and youth, Vano Kiguradze the committee for education, science and culture, Gubaz Sanikidze (a leader of the National Forum Party) the committee for diasporas and Caucasus, Irakly Tripolsky the committee for autonomies and highland regions, Georgy Tsagareishvili the committee for environmental protection and natural resources, Gigla Abulashvili the agricultural committee, Nodar Khaduri the committee on economy and economic policy, former Minister of Finances David Onoprishvili the committee for finances and budget, Irina Imerlishvili the committee for procedures and parliamentary rules.

Georgian Dream got 83 parliamentary seats after the elections on October 1. President Mikheil Saakashvili’s United National Movement got 67. The parliament has 150 seats. The oldest MP will chair the first session of the new parliament.
