Minchenko expects Georgian president to continue fight for power

Bidzina Ivanishvili of the Georgian Dream coalition became the Georgian Prime Minister. He appointed Irakly Alasania as the First Vice Premier and Defense Minister, Kakha Kaladze as the Second Vice Premier and Minister for Infrastructure and Development.

Irakly Garibashvili has become the Interior Minister, Maya Panjikidze the Foreign Minister, Tea Tsulukiani the Justice Minister, Amiran Gamkrelidze the Healthcare Minister, Guram Odisharia the Minister for Culture and Memorial Protection, Levan Kipiani the Minister for Sports and Youth, David Kirvalidze the Minister for Agriculture, Sozar Subari the Minister for Corrections and Legal Assistance, Kote Surguladze the Minister for Diasporas, Alexi Petriashvili the Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integrations, Paata Zakareishvili the Minister for Reintegration.

Revaz Shavishvili has become the head of the State Audit Service, Nodar Javakhishvili the President of the National Bank, Archil Kbilashvili the Prosecutor General, David Usupashvili the Speaker of Parliament with Manana Kobakhidze, Zviad Dzindziguri and Zurab Abashidze as Deputy Speakers.

Yevgeny Minchenko, Director of the International Institute for Political Expertise, said that the Cabinet coincided with the information published 2 days ago. It includes Shevardnadze’s and Saakashvili’s supporters.

The expert believes that President Mikheil Saakashvili may either prepare for resignation to keep his people at power or he may continue the struggle for power. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Saakashvili would prefer the latter.

Ivanishvili told Euronews that he planned reforms for 1.5 years and resignation after.

Minchenko says that Georgia and Russia will have positive trends in relations. Ties with Azerbaijan will remain unchanged. Relations may get worse with Armenia due to Armenian minorities at Javakhke.
