Georgia to stick to nonresumption of fire

The Georgian government's commitment to the nonresumption of fire regime will not be reconsidered, candidate for Reintegration minister Paata Zakareishvili said today, Trend reports.

He said that the Ministry for the reintegration will have close relations with other agencies, especially the Interior Ministry, as the conflicts in Abkhazia and the Tskhinvali region are internal conflicts.

Paata Zakareishvili intends to maintain close cooperation with the Georgian Foreign Ministry.

The Russian Foreign Ministry will urge Georgia during the Geneva talks to formalize the agreement on nonresumption of fire regime with Sukhumi and Tskhinvali. Former Georgian authorities have agreed to sign a similar agreement with Russia.

The Georgian Dream coalition leader who won the parliamentary elections Bidzina Ivanishvili has introduced the candidates for ministerial posts in the new Georgian government at the coalition's headquarters in Tbilisi today.

Ivanishvili will take the post of prime minister. He has been working on the consultations on the formation of the new Cabinet of Ministers since October 4.

Military actions were launched in the Georgian region of South Ossetia on Aug.8, 2008. Later Russian troops occupied the city of Tskhinvali and drove the Georgian military back. Russia recognised the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia in late August.
