Iran appoints new ambassador to Azerbaijan

Iran has officially appointed a new ambassador to Azerbaijan, Trend reports.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad met in Tehran with new ambassadors appointed to a number of countries, including the new ambassador to Azerbaijan - Mohsen Pak Ayin, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

The President gave instructions to new heads of diplomatic missions in Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia and other countries, noting the need for the development of bilateral relations between Iran and these countries.

Mohsen Pak Ayin was born in 1954 in the province of Fars. He was a member of parliament in 1987-91. He was head of the Department of the Foreign Ministry of Iran on Afghanistan prior to his appointment to Azerbaijan. He served as ambassador to Zambia, Iran, Uzbekistan and Thailand.
