Russian ambassador to Ankara summoned to Foreign Ministry of Turkey

The Russian Ambassador to Turkey was summoned to the Foreign Minister of
the country after a Syrian passenger plane on a way from Moscow to
Damascus had to land in Turkey due to suspicions of containing military
cargo on board, Gazeta reports referring to Reuters.

The Airbus A320 of a Syrian airline was traveling from Vnukovo
airport to Damascus with 35 passengers on board. It was forced to land
at the airport in Ankara.

Turkish authorities said that they found military equipment on board
after a nearly five-hour search. After this incident the plane was
allowed to take off. There is no official data on the nature of the
confiscated equipment. Several Turkish media sources reported that spare parts
for radio stations used for military purposes had been confiscated.
Meanwhile, according to local TV station NTV, an "object, which is
considered to be part of a missile" was discovered.
