Syrian plane detained in Turkey carried radar elements

The Syrian plane flying from Moscow to Damascus detained in Ankara carried 12 crates with radio elements for air defenses in Syria, Kommersant reports.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the plane was carrying military cargo sent by a Russian company. Syrian authorities denied the information. Syrian Air insisted that its plane carried no forbidden cargo.

F-16 fighters forced the Syrian Airbus A-320 with 35 passengers flying from Vnukovo (Russia) to Damascus to land in Ankara on Wednesday night. 17 of the passengers, including children, were Russians. The plane was inspected for 5 hours.
