Current and future heads of Georgian interior ministry hold meeting

Acting Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia Eka Zguladze said the structure of the department, budget, progress and problems were discussed in detail during the meeting with the candidate for the post of Interior Minister Irakli Garibashvili, Trend reports.

We agreed that the Ministry of the Interior has a very important role for the state, she told reporters.

"We will not tolerate violence in the country; the success of the new minister will really be my success. If I can keep effective authority to him, he will be able to make the ministry more effective, and that is what the country needs," Zguladze said.

She said the meeting was held in the Courtyard Marriott hotel.

"It may seem quite unusual that the meeting was not held in the ministry, but I have considered it a gesture of respect from the new minister, because there is a hierarchy in the ministry, so the fact that we met in another place is a manifestation of favour of both sides," Zguladze said.
