Unidentified gunmen attacked the car of Nurlan Ashurbekov, an investigative authority in Dagestan, in Kaspiysk on Sunday night, RIA Novosti reports.
The police believe that the officer was attacked for investigating outrageous cases in Dagestan. He was using an armored Toyota Land Cruiser. It had 8 bullet holes. The police found an AKM clip with three 7.62mm bullets, 26 shells and 6 bullets of caliber 7.62mm, three 9mm shells.
The Ashurbekov police station where the officer worked was investigating such cases as the murder of Sheikh Sayid Atsayev by a suicide bomber at the Buynaksky District of Dagestan in late August. Six other people were killed by that blast.
