Tbilisi approves sale of gas pipeline for Russian transit to Armenia

The Georgian parliament has overwhelmingly approved the sale of the gas pipeline used for Russian gas transport through the territory of Georgia to Armenia, RBC reports.

The opposition believes that the government should keep the rights for the pipeline because the purchasers may turn out to be Russian companies ‘constituting an energy and economic threat to Georgia’.

The opposition proposed making Georgia the holder of 51% of the pipeline's share. Parliament dismissed the opposition's concerns.
