The United States attaches great importance to cooperation with
Azerbaijan, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Eric Rubin said in
Baku at a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar
Mammadyarov, Trend reports with reference to the press service of the
Foreign Ministry. Rubin praised the contribution of Azerbaijan as a
non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in maintaining
peace and security.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Minister expressed his satisfaction with the level
of cooperation between the two countries and noted the great potential
for its development. Mammadyarov also noted the need for the
withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories of
Azerbaijan, expressing regret over the destructive position of
Yerevan.
The two parties discussed regional and international issues.
