Pope Benedict XVI will visit Damascus to express solidarity to the population, Interfax-Azerbaijan reports.
Cardinal Tarcisio Bertone, the State Secretary of Vatican, said that the date of visit and the people included in the delegation have not been set yet.

About 300 Christians were kidnapped at Rableh in Syria near the Lebanese border on September 25. Armed assailants stole apples and kidnapped about 150 people, including women and children. Patriarch Gregory III Laham of Melkit and other Syrian religious leaders urged the UN and NGOs to help find the Christians and protect them.
