Militant killed in Dagestan

A militant was killed in a shootout with security forces in Dagestan’s capital Makhachkala on Saturday, the republic’s interior ministry said, RIA Novosti reports.

The Investigative Committee Directorate for Dagestan said the militant’s identity was established but could not be revealed due to the ongoing investigation.

The gunman was killed as he opened fire on a security detail when asked to present his papers.

No security personnel were injured in the incident.
