Russian president wins energy premium

Russian President Vladimir Putin has won an energy award at the World Economic Forum 2012. He will be recognised for his contribution to world energy policy in Dubai by the Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

South Korean President Lee Myung-bak will receive the award for environmental protection, Nigerian Petroleum Minister Deziani Alison Madueke for Women in Energy, Global Smart Grid Federation for technological innovations, the Dubai Authority for Electric and Water Resources for practical achievements, Biogas Project Division (Vietnam) for humanitarian achievements.

Over 20 heads of states and governments, 40 ministers and the heads of over 200 international companies will take part in the World Economic Forum. The forum has held the meeting beyond the UN headquarters in New York for the first time.

Russia is represented by Victor Zubkov, Gazprom CEO. Yevgeny Velikhov, President of the Kurchatov Institute and head of the Russian Public Chamber, will make a speech at the forum.
