Georgian acting Defense Minister Dmitry Shashkin went on a visit to the US in early October. He has recently said in Facebook that he had left the country and hoped to return back some day.
Shashkin assumes that there will be a lot of false rumours about him. He considers his work at the Ministry for Corrections and the Ministry for Education and Science positive and regrets that some ideas were not realized at the Defense Ministry.
The acting minister praised President Mikheil Saakashvili’s government.
Spokeswoman of the Georgian Defense Ministry Nino Potrzhebskaya said that Shashkin was on vacation and will resign on Thursday.
