Syrian television said on Tuesday that President Bashar al-Assad has announced an amnesty.
The conflict in Syria has been ongoing since March 2011. The UN says that about 30,000 people have died, over 230,000 have become refugees and about 3 million need humanitarian aid. Syrian authorities say that they face well-armed opposition, Trend reports.
