Russian opposition to call on PACE to increase pressure on Kremlin

The Russian opposition will call on the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe to increase pressure on the Kremlin in order to improve the situation surrounding democracy and human rights in Russia.

Opposition leader Alexey Navalny told the Dozhd TV channel that the newly-formed Coordination Council of the Russian Opposition may soon send a representative, former deputy prime minister Boris Nemtsov, to the PACE to address European lawmakers and press them to increase pressure on the Putin regime.

It's very important to press the European authorities to cancel entrance visas of those Russian officials who are notorious for human rights violations and freeze their bank accounts, Navalny said.

He also said that another representative of the Coordination Council will be sent to the US congress.
