Russian police are conducting a counter-terrorism operation in Kazan, the Voice of Russia reports.
Two militants have been killed, the news agency informs. The remaining criminals have put up resistance and barricaded themselves inside a block house.
“The criminals have barricaded themselves on the ground floor of 19 Chimiki Street, and are putting up stiff resistance. The number of criminals isn’t known yet, but two of them have been eliminated,” a source said, adding that one of the killed rebels had a device similar to a “shahid belt."
Tatarstan’s Interior Minister, Artyom Kokorin, recently arrived at the scene of the special operation, local police say.
