Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has sent a congratulation letter to Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov marking the 21st anniversary of independence of October 27.
Trade turnover between Russia and Turkmenistan grows and reached $4.3 billion in 2011, with account of gas supplies. Fuel and energy cooperation is strategic. Turkmen gas arrives in Russia using the Middle Asia – Center Gas Pipeline running through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Russia signed contracts on purchases of Turkmen gas for 25 years.
Russian companies ITERA and Zarubezhneft operate in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea.
Turkmenistan has about 180 joint ventures with Russia, including Siloviye Mashiny, Vozrozhdeniye and others operating at industrial and social facilities, roads and communications.
