Kurdish protesters detained in Diyarbakir

The police used tear gas and water cannons against Kurdish protesters in the Diyarbakir Province of Turkey last night.

The protesters used improvised grenades and rocks. 56 people were arrested. They carried improvised explosives and Molotov cocktails.

Hundreds of convicts have been on a hunger strike for about two months, demanding better conditions for PKK leader Abdullah Ojalan. The protesters arrived to express support for them.
