Iran expects reaction of six mediators to nuclear talks

Spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Ramin Mehmanparast said that the country was ready for talks with the six mediators (Russia, UK, China, USA, France and Germany) and was expecting a reply to initiatives filed in June.

The goal of Iranian proposals is recognition of Iran’s right for nuclear energy based on the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. The six mediators called the proposals constructive and requested time to give a response.

Iran and the six mediators held talks in Istanbul on April 14 after over a year of break and in Baghdad on May 23-24. The latest talks were held in Moscow on June 18-19.

The six mediators and the IAEA have been persuading Iran to stop uranium enrichment since 2003.
