The Iranian authorities received today a communiqué from the UN Special Representative calling to release the recent winners of the Sakharov prize from prison, the human rights activist Nasrin Sotoudeh and famous film director Jafar Panahi.
Pussy Riot and Belarusian human rights activist Ales Bialitski were also nominated for the Sakharov Prize awarded for outstanding contribution in the protection of human rights this year. Awards will be presented this year on December 12 in Strasbourg.
