Svetlana Orlova, a co-chair of the Azerbaijani-Russian inter-parliamentary commission for cooperation, said at the commission’s 10th session today that the two states were strategic partners.
She reminded that 10 Nobel Prize winners attended the humanitarian forum that had been organized. A branch of Moscow State University was opened. A deal on physical education and sports may be signed this year, News Azerbaijan reports.
Orlova noted that the states discussed humanitarian, economic, trade, agrarian, engineering, innovative, cultural and parliamentary cooperation. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev discussed economic cooperation.
Orlova reminded about cooperation in the CIS IPA, PACE and the Congress of local regional authorities of Europe.
Azerbaijani Vice Speaker of Parliament Valekh Aleskerov, the Azerbaijani co-chair of the commission, expressed confidence that the meeting will boost successful bilateral inter-parliamentary and inter-governmental relations.
