EU demands Iran stop blocking TV and radio

Iran blocks about 500 TV channels and 200 radio stations, as stated by EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton, ITAR-TASS reports.

She said that Iran had started blocking signals in 2009. This includes BBC, France 24, Deutsche Welle, Voice of America. More channels were blocked on October 15. Ashton added that Iran blocks channels in neighbour states too.

The EU chief diplomat noted that such acts were violating norms of the UN International Telecommunications Union.
