The General Prosecutor of Georgia today arrested the deputy mayor of Tbilisi,
Shota Khizanishvili, who has previously worked as Deputy Interior
Minister and deputy head of the Department of Constitutional Security
of the Interior Ministry.
Khizanishvili has been accused of abuse of power under Article 333 and
can go to prison for a term of up to 7 years. His former boss, head of
the Department of Constitutional Security of the Interior Ministry
Vaja Liluashvili, has been charged under article 159 (illegal
wiretapping) and is facing imprisonment of up to 3 years.
