Five Turkish soldiers killed in clashes with PKK

At least five Turkish soldiers were killed in clashes with Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorists in the south-eastern Turkish province of Hakkari on the Iraqi border, Todays Zaman reported.

One soldier was also injured in the clashes near the village of Ortaklar in the Shemdinli district.

More than 40,000 people have been killed in 28 years of fighting between Turkey and the PKK - designated a terrorist group by Ankara, the United States and the European Union.
