Police Major Vladimir Kozayev, an officer of the border service of the Committee for State Security in South Ossetia, was found dead with a headshot in Ertso of the Dzausky District, Res reports.
A group for investigation of the case was formed, South Ossetian President Leonid Tibilov said at a meeting with Prosecutor General Merab Chigoyev.
Kozayev has been serving in the border security agency since 2005. He had awards for merit and heroism, including awards for the war in August 2008.
